Surface is a tablet computer developed by Microsoft. This unit is similar to many models of tablets from other companies. At the same time, Microsoft Surface has a number of distinctive features.
The company presented two models of the tablet computer. These are devices powered by Intel and ARM processors. The first type of computer will be equipped with the Windows 8 operating system. On devices with ARM architecture, the Windows RT operating system will be used. It should be noted that these models differ not only in processors. For example, a computer with an Intel CPU weighs 230 grams more.
The Microsoft Surface ARM-based computer will be equipped with a full USB 2.0 interface. At the same time, its analog with an Intel chip is endowed with a USB 3.0 port. It is important to understand that many manufacturers use mini-USB channels, which allows you to connect drives only using adapter cables.
Both tablets will feature a 10.6-inch touchscreen. At the same time, the maximum matrix resolution will be 1280x720 pixels for an ARM device and 1920x1080 pixels for a model with an Intel chip. The devices use graphics processors Nvidia Tegra 3 and Intel Core i5 Ivy Bridge, respectively. It is important to note that in the first case, the CPU is endowed with four full cores.
The device with an ARM processor uses SSD-drives with a volume of 32 and 64 GB. The memory capacity in older Microsoft Surface models has been doubled. A stand case is included with both tablets. This is a rather interesting gadget, not only performing a protective function, but also representing a full-fledged keyboard. It should be noted that the thickness of one wall of the case is only 3 mm.
To connect to the Internet, Microsoft Surface tablets use Wi-Fi modules that work with 2 × 2 MIMO Wi-Fi (802.11 a / b / g / n) modes. To connect to external displays, the devices have micro HDMI (ARM version) and mini Display Port (Intel architecture) ports.
