Remember that the presence of the Sony logo on the case does not mean that it is real. Fakes are both with and without him. And if the font in the logo is noticeably different from the original, or the PSP name is printed on the device without the Sony name at all, the imitation can be considered identified already at this stage. The Made in China inscription does not mean anything at all: China is a country of origin of both real and fake PSPs. The same goes for the Mini-USB connector, which is the same for original and counterfeit consoles.

The earliest PSP counterfeit game is Pop Station. It is slightly smaller in size than the original, and its screen is black and white and vertical. In terms of the set of functions, the Pop Station corresponds to devices of the Brick Game class.

In more advanced counterfeit consoles, the body copies the appearance of the PSP almost completely. They are equipped with color screens, but they can also be distinguished from the original. Take a look if the device has a memory card slot, and for which one. If for SD, and in the original model from which the design was copied, a Memory Stick is used, a counterfeit is detected. The same conclusion can be made if the device does not provide for the use of a memory card, although the PSP model from which the design was copied does. Also, on such consoles, the abbreviation PMP (portable media player) is often found, made in such a font that it is difficult to distinguish it from the PSP logo.

Classic PSP models have highly specialized UMD optical drives. Inspect the counterfeit: if it is modeled on such a model and there is no drive, it is counterfeit.
Step 5
True PSP consoles of all models are equipped with WiFi radios. They do not exist in fake consoles. You can identify the presence or absence of such a module by scrolling through the menu. No counterfeit products and no browser.
Step 6
You can also check the console for originality by placing a SWF file of version no higher than 7 in its internal memory or on a memory card (for consoles whose firmware has not been updated for a long time - no higher than 6). The successful launch of such a file by entering a direct path to it in the address bar of the browser indicates the originality of the device. Its counterfeit, in turn, is evidenced by the presence of an emulator for game consoles NES, Game Boy, Sega and others. Images of cartridges for such attachments in most cases are counterfeit in themselves, and then their use is illegal.
