KAMAZ "Typhoon" is a representative of a new generation of cargo armored vehicles.
Developed by Russian designers. Its task: transportation of people and goods to the zone of military conflict. Typhoon is not intended for active combat operations on the front line, but it has a level of protection unprecedented for domestic technology. He is able to withstand a mine explosion (8 kg in TNT equivalent), armor-piercing bullets and even an ambush.

There are 2 prototypes of the KAMAZ vehicle from the Typhoon family: modular and hull. The first consists of two separate parts: a cockpit and a functional module in the form of a passenger armored vehicle. This design allows you to design modules for various tasks. In other words, this machine can be made: a communication vehicle, an excavator, a mobile art. system, truck crane, tow truck and pontoon carrier. You just need to install the required module on the chassis, and the machine is ready. The modular car accommodates 16 people, in addition, there is a berth in the back. A corps car cannot afford this, only 10 troops + 2 team members can fit in it. But there is a door to go from the cockpit to the passenger compartment. In both samples, the engine is not under the cab, but behind it, which allows technical work in the engine compartment without leaving the car.

"Typhoon" weighs 24 tons, and its "heart" is a six-cylinder turbodiesel engine with a capacity of 450 horsepower. The motor received the award for technological breakthrough. The vehicle is equipped with ceramic armor (a series of layers of ceramics and metal), which is much lighter and stronger than usual (protects against B-32 bullets). A new armored glass weighing 300 kg per square meter has been developed specially for the Typhoon. All-round visibility is provided by 5 video cameras: 2 in front, 2 on the sides and 1 behind. There are 2 screens under the cab ceiling, which fold back when driving with damaged glass and lowered shutters, they also display various information on the technical condition of the car. In the passenger module, the designers have developed a reclining armored platform.
