If you use cable television services over a dedicated line, no configuration is required - just connect a set-top box to the TV set. But in many houses, additional channels are fed through the cable of the collective antenna. To be sure that all of them will be received, you need to periodically reconfigure the TV.

Instructions

Step 1

Make sure that the cable is connected to the antenna input of the TV, and not the indoor antenna. If you need to receive some of the channels that are not in the cable network from an indoor antenna, connect them together through a splitter. If the TV does not have a combined MV-UHF input or memory for many channels, connect a VCR or DVD recorder with a tuner to it. If you know that some of the channels on the cable network broadcast in digital format, and the TV is unable to receive them, connect an external digital tuner-decoder. Connect the aerial output of a VCR, recorder or tuner-decoder to the aerial input of your TV, even if they are already connected with low-frequency cables. Please note that any of these devices pass the signal through themselves only when connected to the network (with rare exceptions). Perform all switching operations with the equipment completely de-energized.

Step 2

Take the TV remote control and press the key on it designed to enter the menu. Find the item corresponding to auto-tuning with scanning. The location of this item depends on the model of the machine. If you have any problems, refer to the instructions.

Step 3

Do not turn off the unit's power during auto-tuning. Wait for the procedure to complete. Then manually sort the channels if you want. The way to do this varies greatly from model to model, so if you have any difficulty, also refer to the instructions. If your TV has a digital tuner, autosearch analogue and digital channels separately, switching the unit to the appropriate mode.

Step 4

Now select on the TV the one of the AV inputs to which the VCR, DVD recorder or DTV tuner / decoder is connected. Switch on the corresponding device and carry out its auto-tuning, and, if desired, manual sorting in the same way.

Step 5

In large cities, repeat the procedure once every six months - it is with this frequency that the channel network usually changes in the cable network. When announcements about the introduction of new channels into the cable network appear at the entrance, conduct an autosearch ahead of schedule.
