You can watch satellite TV on your computer monitor and on the TV screen. In the first case, you will need a DVB-card installed in the PCI slot or connected to the USB-port of the computer, in the second - a satellite receiver for the TV. The rest of the equipment - a satellite dish, a converter, an antenna cable - is the same for a computer and for a TV set.

Instructions
Step 1
Choose a satellite with a suitable set of free channels. The range of choice is quite wide. In the central part of Russia, you can watch free Russian-language channels from satellites Yamal 201 and 202, Intelsat 15, ABS-1, Intelsat 904, Express-AM2 and others.
Step 2
In order to view specific information on these and other satellites, type in the search box the name of the satellite with the word LyngSat and click on the appropriate search result bar. You will be taken to the LyngSat.com website page. where in the form of a table all information on the satellite you are interested in is shown.
Step 3
In the column "Provider Name" you will find the name of the TV companies and the channels they broadcast. The System Encryption column contains information on channel encryption and signal format. If there is a letter F in front of the channel in this column, this means that the channel is not encrypted and you can watch it for free. The signal format can be DVB-S or DVB-S2, this information will be required when purchasing a satellite receiver.
Step 4
In the remaining columns, you can find information on signal parameters - its frequency, symbol rate (SR), polarization, FEC. The Beam column contains the name of the transponder beam. Check the coverage map to see if your home is within range.
Step 5
To determine the exact direction to the satellite and the angle of the antenna, use the free Satellite Antenna Alignmen program. Install it on your computer and enter the coordinates of the satellite and your home into its forms. In response, the program will display the values of the satellite azimuth and the antenna elevation angle.
Step 6
Install the antenna in a place where it can easily receive the signal from the satellite. Point it to the satellite - using the data obtained in the previous step. Attach the converter to the antenna bracket.
Step 7
Install a DVB card into the slot of your computer and install its software. Connect the card to the converter with an antenna cable. If you are going to watch satellite channels on TV, the antenna cable must be connected to the satellite receiver. Connect the receiver's output to the corresponding jack on the TV.
Step 8
Use a satellite finder to accurately orient the antenna to the satellite transponder. Usually they are plugged into the connector between the converter and the antenna cable. The exact procedure for working with the device is described in the instructions for it. Based on the satellite finder readings, orient the antenna towards the satellite and fix it in this position.
Step 9
As a result of this work, a video image from the satellite should appear on the TV screen. To watch TV channels on a computer, you need to install one of the programs for watching satellite TV, in particular, the most popular ProgDvb. After installation, open the program and scan the satellite with it. The program will place the detected channels in its playlist, available for viewing by the user.
