Instructions

Step 1

The principle of operation of the Zello walkie-talkie is quite simple. Each participant registers an account, the data of which is stored on the application server. You will also need to download the client of the walkie-talkie to a personal computer, IPhone or Android device. Today, the Zello app is supported by most stationary and mobile devices running various operating systems, including macOS and Ubuntu. Users communicate through a two-way voice conference, either by connecting to a previously created channel, which can be open and available for listening to all Zello users, or closed and requiring a password when connecting. Also, each user can create his own channel and invite users from the list of friends to it.

Step 2

To start using Zello, you need to launch the client and enter the authorization data: username and password. After that, you can start searching for channels by their name or users by nickname. The exchange of voice messages with individual users is possible only after a response authorization, while listening to the channel becomes possible immediately after connecting to it. You can send a message to all users on the channel after receiving the status of a trusted user. Until this moment, messages will only be heard by the moderators and the channel administrator.

Step 3

To send a message, you need to click on the communication push-to-talk. In versions of the application for a desktop computer, it looks like a button with the inscription Zello, located at the bottom of the program window. On mobile versions of Zello, the PTT button is located in the center of the screen and looks like a circle with an orange border and a microphone icon in the center. If the broadcast is currently busy, a notification will sound in the form of three short beeps.

Step 4

At the same time, you can listen to messages from several users from several channels that are currently active. In order to select a channel or user for communication, you must click on the corresponding item in the list. It should be borne in mind that in mobile versions of Zello, the lists of users and channels are in different tabs.

Step 5

One of the main usability of the Zello walkie-talkie is keeping the history of messages you listened to and sent. It is also very convenient to use a Hands-Free or Bluetooth headset. For each user or channel, you can set the desired volume level. It is also possible to send instant calls, including short text messages. By analogy with most common instant messengers, in Zello you can set various user statuses that restrict the reception or transmission of messages.
