Every mobile phone has a serial number, the so-called IMEI (Mobile Equipment Identity), assigned by the manufacturer. Knowing the serial number of your phone can help you find it if it is stolen or lost.

When the phone is switched on, its identification number is read by the equipment of the operator company. If you lose your phone or have it stolen from you, there is still a chance to find the loss - but only if you know the IMEI of your phone.

You can find out the serial number of your phone in several ways. The simplest: dial the command "* # 06 #" (without quotes), the serial number of your phone will immediately appear on the screen.
Step 3
The serial number can also be found on the body of the phone. To see it, turn off your phone, remove the cover and take out the battery. IMEI is written on the case under the battery, next to the barcode.

The identification number is also indicated on the box from the phone, often it is she who helps to find out the IMEI of the lost device. Until nothing happens to the phone, the owner is usually not interested in its serial number. This is wrong - if you don't keep your phone box, be sure to write down the IMEI in a notepad, computer file, or save it somewhere safe.
Step 5
If your phone was stolen, write a corresponding statement to the police. Insist that law enforcement agencies contact your cellular operator to locate your phone. You should not contact the mobile company yourself with a request to track the IMEI of a stolen phone - most likely, you will be refused.
Step 6
Sometimes the purchase of a phone is carried out by hand, without documents. In order not to buy a stolen phone, check its identification number on the Internet against databases of stolen phones. It is easy to find such databases - just type “stolen phone numbers of the database” in the search box, you will get a lot of relevant links. If your phone is stolen, do not forget to add its identification number to these databases.
Step 7
Not only phones have an identification number, but also USB modems. If for some reason you want to ensure your anonymity and change the SIM card in the modem, this gives almost nothing, since the IMEI of the modem has remained the same and, if necessary, you can always be easily found.
