Philips company produces LCD TVs in various price categories. Some of them are small and have a small set of functions, while others, equipped with large matrices, are able to turn the living room into a kind of a real cinema.

The Ambilight technology patented in 2004 is a kind of "calling card" of Philips TVs. Embilight differs from other previously known backlighting systems in that it is colored. The brightness of the red, green and blue LEDs located on the back of the device is automatically adjusted according to the color tone of the image on the screen. The most advanced models of these TVs control different sections of LEDs separately, depending on the shades of color at the corners and sides of the display.

The TVs with the Aurea system are even more interesting. Here, in contrast to Ambilight, not only the wall behind the device is illuminated, but also its front panel. This allows you to make the "border" that separates the image from the background almost invisible.

But backlighting isn't the only advantage of Philips TV receivers. The largest of them have the ability to connect with a standard Ethernet cable to a home router or modem router with DHCP. And although it will not work to launch a browser on the TV, the user can watch videos from Youtube on the big screen. And if you turn on a Linux or Windows computer connected to the same router and run the file server program on it, you can display any photos stored on that computer. For those who do not use routers, it is possible to view photos from ordinary flash drives.

Even the lowest-priced, smallest Philips LCD TVs have unusual features, which have no backlight, no network card or USB ports. Some of the devices in this price range are equipped with DVI-inputs. Such a television receiver will find a place not only in the kitchen, but also on the computer table (if the computer's video card has a DVI output). Then it can be used alternately as a TV, then as a monitor.
