The efficiency of a television receiver and the quality of communication in general is determined by many parameters. These are the characteristics of the antenna, and the distance from the broadcasting center, and even the nature of the terrain where the receiver is installed. To improve the signal, it is necessary to take into account these conditions and try to eliminate the action of unwanted and harmful factors.

Step 1
Consider the terrain when installing the antenna. The area of guaranteed reception of a television signal depends on the relief. If possible, install the antenna at the highest point adjacent to your home. To ensure the required height of the antenna device, if necessary, use an additional mast, securely reinforcing it with guy wires.

Choose the optimal receive antenna design. The requirements for it are as follows: simplicity and reliability, sufficient spatial selectivity, the ability to pass a wide frequency band, low input impedance and high signal gain. For the zone of poor reception, the ratio of the signal level to the interference level is also of particular importance.

If the distance from the telecentre is small (several tens of kilometers), use a "wave channel" antenna with a simple or looped vibrator, consisting of three elements, to improve the received signal. Antennas of this type are produced by the industry, but if you have minimal radio amateur skills, you can make it on your own.
Step 4
Check if the antenna is installed correctly and tune it. To do this, select the optimal ratio of the antenna elements required to receive the signal of the selected stations. Correctly orient the structure in space by aiming the antenna at the broadcast center or repeater.
Step 5
Use a special antenna amplifier to improve the signal. The dimensions, design and connection method of such a device can be very different. When choosing an amplifier, pay attention to the frequency characteristics and noise level indicated in the technical documentation. Have a professional set up the amplifier used for your particular TV receiver model. Otherwise, the efficiency of the device will be low.
