Satellite navigation for many of us is now more a curiosity than a familiar thing. Although our mobile phones are capable of becoming real navigators thanks to special applications.
Necessary
- - mobile phone with support for gps function;
- - Garmin software.
Instructions
Step 1
Install the Garmin Mobile XT application on your phone, you can download it from https://www.garmin.com/support/, select the version that works for your phone. Download the additional files package immediately. This program will allow you to use your phone as a GPS navigator.
Step 2
Connect the phone / smartphone to the computer / laptop in the "Data transfer" mode, install the program on the phone first, then additional files. Check if the application appears in the phone application menu. If not, then install it manually on the device. Go to the folder on the memory card, where you first copy the folder with the application. Run the GarminMobileXT.sis file.
Step 3
Run the application, select the language and other settings for it. Next, search for maps to download to your phone. Source maps for this application are usually of the following types: as a file with the *.img extension or as a packed file in the *.exe format, this is an archive that contains several files. Maps in the Garmin software should be located in the root folder of Garmin, and the names should be as follows: Gmapbmap.img - basemap; Gmapsupp.img (map 1), Gmapsup2.img (map 2), Gmapprom.img (map 3). The first two cards must be present in the root folder of the application.
Step 4
Rename the cards and give them the valid names listed in the previous step. Launch the Garmin Unlock Generator application to be able to download maps to your phone for your navigator. At the bottom of the program, click the Select Map command, enter the map code, click Generate.
Step 5
Copy the resulting code into a text file, give it the same name as the map, make the extension *.uni. Copy maps and additional files to your smartphone in the folder with the installed Garmin software. Launch the Garmin app, enjoy navigation.
