When buying Nokia phones, the customer wants to be sure that he is purchasing a quality product. However, it is not always possible to trust the words of the seller or the appearance of the device itself. Replacing the case or flashing the phone can make even the oldest mobile phone a new sample.
Instructions
Step 1
One of the indicators that a really new phone is being sold to you is the date of its manufacture. There are two ways to find out. The first one is visual. Take a look at the back of a phone battery: it usually has a release date, but it can be implicit. For example, 08W45 means the phone was manufactured on week 45 of 2008.
Step 2
If the date was not there or you do not know how to decipher it, there is another way - software. All Nokia mobile phones have special service codes, when dialing, you can find out all the information about the phone, including the date of its manufacture. These codes are different for each row of models.
Step 3
If you are the owner of phones from the series Nokia 3210, Nokia 3310, Nokia 5110, Nokia 6110, Nokia 7110, Nokia 8210, Nokia 8310, Nokia 8850, enter the following combination on the keyboard - * # 92702689 #. After that, you will see the service menu on the screen, in which there is an item "Phone release date". Select it and check when your phone was produced. In addition, the menu will display a unique IMEI number, which must match the number on the phone box. Check if this is so, or if they want to sell you an old phone disguised as a new one in a package.
Step 4
For smartphones, such as Nokia 5230, which came out very recently, try using the same code. In some cases, dialing the code * # 92702689 # leads only to the display of the total talk time on the phone, which is not an indicator. However, if there are no other options, use this one as well. At least, seeing that the total talk time is, for example, 20 hours, you will understand that this phone was clearly used by someone before you.
Step 5
Do not confuse the date of the last software update with the release date. If the first date corresponds, for example, to the last month, this does not mean at all that the phone was also released a month ago. The software could have been updated even yesterday, while the phone is already several years old. This is the same as judging the release date of a computer by the version of the operating system that is installed on it.
