The capacity of these batteries depends on their type and the constituent materials. Sometimes appliances powered by independent electricity sources are sold without them. In order to use such a purchased electrical appliance, you need to know which batteries are suitable for it and how to insert them correctly into the device.

Step 1

To get the appliance working, first find out which type of battery is suitable for it. This information can be found on the packaging of the device or in the enclosed instructions. Obtain the correct type of batteries from a specialist dealer.

Saline batteries are usually used for devices with low current consumption - small toys and flashlights, various low-power remotes. Alkaline (alkaline) batteries can provide the necessary energy for radios, table clocks, electric shavers, toys with a motor, and audio players.

Silver-zinc batteries are suitable for calculators, wristwatches, and hearing aids. Lithium power sources with the largest capacity are used in various storage devices, cell phones, wristwatches, and various devices with high power consumption.

To obtain complete information about the battery, its labeling allows it. In the designations LR20, LR14, LR6, LR03, the first letter indicates the chemical composition of the battery: "C" - lithium, "S" - silver-zinc, "L" - alkaline. If the letter is missing, then there is a salt battery in front of you.

The second letter denotes the shape of the power source: "R" - cylindrical, "F" - flat, in the form of a tablet. If the marking of the battery does not start with a letter, but with a number (for example, 6F22), then this means the number of its smaller batteries. The numbers at the end of such designations indicate the radius of the battery.

In the instructions for the electrical appliance, find out where the battery compartment is. Slide off the cover you need and inspect it carefully: on the inside there may be a diagram for placing the batteries in the compartment.

There is a negative terminal at one end of the cylindrical batteries, and a positive terminal at the other. The positive pole has a larger convex portion than the negative. Also, usually on the battery case, you can find signs in the form of a plus and a minus, indicating the polarity of the poles.

The sizes of cylindrical batteries are of the following types: D, C, AA, AAA. D is the largest diameter battery, AAA the smallest.

On the other hand, pill batteries have the positive terminal on the flat side and the negative terminal on the slightly convex side. Usually on the flat side of such a battery, you can see the designation in the form of a plus, suggesting polarity.

Insert the batteries according to the diagram on the cover of the device or the explanation in the instructions for the device. Be sure to observe the polarity of the poles on the batteries and the circuit.
