HP printers are considered one of the most popular models used in the office and at home. The procedure for replacing a cartridge in a printer is straightforward. Difficulties are experienced only by those who face it for the first time.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn off the printer. Replacing a cartridge while the machine is turned on can result in electrical shock or burns from accidental contact with the print head. Wait a few minutes for this head to cool naturally. Open the front cover of the printer without using too much force. The cartridge is usually located inside the printer under the print head and has a plastic holder handle. Pull the handle to remove the cartridge. Note that on select HP printers, the cartridge must be pushed in until it clicks before removing it.
Step 2
Remove the packaging from the new cartridge. Remove the protective film and cover from it. Each cartridge clearly states which stickers should be removed and which should not. The country of manufacture and the expiration date of the cartridge are also indicated on the box. Grasp the cartridge firmly with both hands and shake it. It is recommended to insert a new cartridge into the printer immediately after removing the protective cover. Place the cartridge on the guides and push in until it clicks. If everything goes right, the consumable should slide easily, effortlessly along the guides. After the cartridge is in its slot, you should hear a small click, indicating that it is locked.
Step 3
Do not touch the shaded parts of the cartridge with your hands to avoid damaging it. Make sure the consumable does not sit upside down or backwards. Use only original cartridges of the printer manufacturer. If the cartridge bumps into an obstacle during installation and stops sliding along the guides, remove and reinsert.
Step 4
Color printers require multiple color cartridges. In this case, be careful not to confuse cartridges with a specific color. Be guided by the special stickers that are found on both the cartridge and the installation slot for it.
