To say that Samsung and LG are competitors is to say nothing, and there will not be a word about xiaomi. Both of these companies operate in completely different price segments. Next in line is a comparison of the top-end smartphones for 2017: lg g6 vs samsung s8. Let's start the comparison with the element with which users interact directly and most.
Screen
5.8 inches for the Samsung Galaxy S8 versus 5.7 inches for the LG G6.
These would be really huge and extremely inconvenient smartphones, if not for one thing: Samsung and LG abandoned wide screens and changed the aspect ratio of the screen from 16: 9 to 18: 9.
Both of these smartphones are longer, but by no means wider, so they still fit comfortably in the hand. By the way, the correct pronunciation of "Samsung" is "Samson", with an emphasis on the first syllable, which means "three stars" in Korean.
And again about the display
The phones are positioned as frameless, but they still have side frames. Visually LG G6 does not feel like something special, but Galaxy S8 with its "edge" display looks very futuristic. But such a display is not deprived of its drawbacks: users complain about false positives when accidentally touching the edges of the display. Another disadvantage of "edge" displays is the drop in contrast along the curved edges of the display.
IP68
This, of course, will surprise few people, but it is still worth mentioning. Both smartphones are IP68 certified. This means that the devices are protected from dust and water.
Housing
Workmanship and build materials are on par for this price point. The back cover is made of glass in both devices, which will surely attract all your prints. All controls are virtual, although the Galaxy S8 has them located lower and it is more convenient to control the phone.
Camera
LG developers have put a dual camera, already boring by many users (both matrices have a resolution of 13 megapixels), but this solution has a significant advantage for fans of wide-angle shots. The S8 developers have continued to use the 12 megapixel camera from the previous version of the Galaxy S7. One thing is for sure - photos taken with both of these smartphones will have top-notch image quality.
Front-camera
In the era of mass selfies, it would be illogical to ignore the view of the front camera. The Galaxy S8 is equipped with an 8-megapixel camera with an F1.7 aperture. In LG G6 the situation is a bit simpler - 5-megapixel camera, F2.2 aperture.
CPU
The devices also have technical differences. The Samsung S8 is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 835, while the LG G6 has the Snapdragon 821 launched in fall 2016.
