Several dozen automatic telephone exchanges (ATS) are located on the territory of Moscow. Each of them is assigned a three-digit number (or several such numbers). By this number, you can approximately determine the area in which the subscriber is located.

Instructions

Step 1

By the cell phone number, do not try to determine not only the location of the subscriber at the moment (for objective reasons), but even the area in which he is registered or received a SIM card. Such cards are distributed to communication salons and other stores without any reference to their addresses. Therefore, you can only find out the region by the mobile number, and even then not always.

Step 2

If the phone number is a city phone number, check if it belongs to the Moscow region. To do this, pay attention to the first three-digit number located in front of the PBX number - the so-called area code. It is usually enclosed in brackets. If this number is 495 or 499, the number refers to Moscow or the nearest Moscow region.

Step 3

The next three digits of the number indicate the automatic telephone exchange code. It is by them that you can determine the area. First, follow the first of the links provided at the end of the article. Press Ctrl-F and enter the PBX number. If it is not in the first, but in the second column, see which number corresponds to it in the first. For example, if the number starts with 637, it means that the code 201 previously corresponded to it. There are no lists of Moscow telephone exchanges, which take into account the changes associated with the transition to digital equipment, on the Internet, so you have to search for areas in two stages.

Step 4

Now go to the second of the links below. Press Ctrl-F again and this time enter the previously defined old telephone exchange number from the first column. For example, code 201 corresponds to the area of the metro station Kropotkinskaya and Zubovskaya square.

Step 5

If you have any doubts about the correctness of determining the area using the ATC code, call the MGTS help desk at (495) 636-06-36. In this case, you will have to pay the same amount as when calling any other Moscow city phone. Wait for the operator to answer, and then tell the station number to him.
