Additional fans are used in computers to provide cooling for components. All coolers are installed inside the computer and connected to the corresponding power connector on the motherboard. The correct slot should be selected according to the type of heat sink and its location.
Instructions
Step 1
Unplug the computer and open the cover by removing the screws from the back of the product using a screwdriver. On some computers, the side wall is supported by special fasteners that must be loosened to gain access to the contents of the case.
Step 2
Having removed the side wall, determine the location of the cooler installation. It should be determined depending on the role of the installed fan. If you plan to install fans for exhaust, they should be fixed to the back of the computer. To supply the case with cold air, install the fan on the front panel by removing the obstructing parts with a screwdriver.
Step 3
If you are installing a cooler on a processor, carefully study the method of mounting the heatsink. Loosen the fan clamps and unscrew the screws with a screwdriver. Remove the heatsink and note the port where the power wiring goes to the motherboard. Also look at the amount of thermal paste on the processor. If the paste is dry, apply a new thin layer of the compound to the stone.
Step 4
Carefully remove the old cooler and install the new one, then screw it on with the screws. Connect the power wires to the motherboard.
Step 5
When installing the cooler, pay attention to the presence of connectors for connecting additional cooling to the motherboard. The slots for connecting fans are designated as SYS_FAN with the corresponding markings on the motherboard.
Step 6
After installation, secure the fans with the screws. Connect the computer to power and turn it on by pressing the corresponding button on the case. If the connection was correct, the fans will start spinning. Attach the side housing cover. The installation of the fans into the computer case is complete.
