For the printer to function properly, it must be connected to a computer and configured accordingly. The main condition is that the local disk must contain the files necessary for its correct operation. To remove a laser printer (or other hardware), you need to remove the files required to make it work. To do this, you should use the capabilities and tools of the system.
Instructions
Step 1
Through the "Start" menu, call the "Control Panel". If the panel has a classic look, click on the "Printers and Faxes" icon with the left mouse button. If the pane is displayed by category, select this icon in the Printers and Other Hardware category and a new window will open. With the appropriate settings, the "Printers and Faxes" folder is immediately available in the "Start" menu.
Step 2
In the Printers and Faxes folder, hover over the icon of the installed printer. A list of available actions will be displayed in the left part of the window (in the task area). Select the command "Delete this printer" by clicking on it with the left mouse button. Confirm your desire to remove the equipment by clicking on the "Yes" button in the request window. Wait for the printer to be removed.
Step 3
Alternatively, move the mouse cursor over the icon of the installed printer. Click on it with the right mouse button. In the drop-down menu, select the "Delete" command, confirm the command by clicking on the "Yes" button in the request window.
Step 4
The files necessary for the printer to work are most often located in the C: (or other disk with the system) / Program Files / [name of your printer] directory. If this folder is missing or empty, then the printer is not installed (deleted). Also, when installing a printer, a file with configuration parameters is created in the Windows / System32 folder - its absence also indicates that the printer has been deleted.
Step 5
Physically disconnecting the printer from the computer or from the network also prevents documents from being printed. The files required for the printer to function do not take up too much space on the computer, so they do not greatly affect the performance of the system. If you are afraid to delete something you want, just physically unplug the printer.
