Office equipment is an extremely necessary thing in the modern world, but at the same time it is not always reliable. One of the most common types of defects is printer paper jams. To know how to clear a jam, you need to understand why it happened.
It is necessary
- - Printer,
- - paper,
- - printer instructions.
Instructions
Step 1
If you still have instructions for the technique, read in it how to remove a damaged sheet. Different models of printers may have their own characteristics, so careless movement can lead to even more serious damage. Therefore, do not rush to just pull out the paper right away.
Step 2
If the sheet was jammed when exiting the printer, then remove the cover (it can be back or side - this does not matter). This will loosen the clamp and you can more easily pull out the damaged paper. However, if the sheet is jammed at the entrance, and a small part of it is plunged into the printer, then it is not necessary to remove the cover. Pull the paper gently backwards. If the sheet is very stuck, goes tight or does not pull out at all, it is better to take your equipment to a service. Try to start printing again. If the sheet is jammed immediately upon receipt, then remove the cover, pull out the cartridge and check if there are any foreign objects in the printer (stationery, paper scraps, etc.)
Step 3
If the sheet reaches the cartridge, and the paper is jammed exactly in this place, remove the cartridge and pull the sheet in the direction of travel. Remove any scraps of paper, and only after making sure the printer is clean, reinstall the cartridge.
Step 4
Sometimes a situation may arise when no actual paper jam occurs, but the “Paper jam” indicator on the printer turns on, indicating this problem. If resetting the settings and re-setting the parameters does not help you eliminate this defect, you will have to send the printer for repair.
Step 5
If the printer jammed only one sheet and continued to operate normally, then you loaded the paper incorrectly. Make sure that the tray is not overfilled; so that the sheets are not wet, dirty or deformed; that the thickness and type of paper is correct for the printer model; so that there are no staples or paper clips on the paper. Also, do not load paper into the tray while printing is in progress, and periodically wipe the rollers inside the printer from dirt and dust with a damp cloth.
