It happens that we are called from some strange unknown number, we do not have time to pick up the phone, and then we wonder: "Where did they call me from?" In fact, there are several easy ways to find out this information, and it's completely free.

Step 1
Call your mobile operator, dictate the displayed number and ask what kind of region it is. Usually they are willing to give such information.
Step 2
Enter the phone code into the search engine. This method is not always reliable: the answers indicate different regions, which of these is true is not so easy to determine.
Step 3
The list of country codes is on Wikipedia. If you only need to know the country, look there. But if you need more detailed information, then go to the site mtt.ru. Scroll down the page, at the very end, after questions and suggestions there are sections "About the company", "Information disclosure" and others. We select "Supplemental information".
Step 4
On the page that opens, we see a panel with a menu located on the left. Click on "Codes of mobile operators" (if you think you called from Russia). Warning: the site page does not always load completely immediately. If you do not see the "Filtering" button on the opened page, click "Refresh Page" in the top bar of your browser.
Step 5
In the topmost field "DEF Code" enter the code of the phone from which you were called. You do not need to fill in the other fields. Press filter - information will appear about the region of Russia from which the call was made, as well as with which numbers the number in this region can begin and end.
Step 6
If you called from another country, then in the same panel on the left, click on "International and Area Codes". Again, wait for the "Filter" button to load or refresh the page.
Step 7
The first field on the page ("Country") is skipped, in the field immediately below it we write the country code (or city code) and click on the "Filtering" button. Alternatively, find out if there is a program for your phone model that determines countries and regions. One of them is the Pnone Wizard.
