Today, more and more home Internet users are installing additional devices - wireless routers that provide WiFi connection from your provider's network. Quite often, after purchasing a router, computer owners face difficulties in installing and configuring it, and in this article we will look at the basic rules for setting up a router in your system using the example of the common D-Link model.
Instructions
Step 1
Turn on the router to the network and using the connecting cable supplied with the router, connect one of its LAN ports to the output of your computer's network card.
Step 2
Install the provider's network cable to the WAN port of the router. After the connection is established, the WAN interface should light up a blinking indicator.
Step 3
Open the control panel on your computer and go to the network connections section. Right-click on the Local Area Connection icon and select properties. Double click on the line "Internet Protocol TCPIP" and check the boxes for automatic receipt of all addresses.
Step 4
After that, open an Internet browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar to enter the router interface. When prompted for a username, enter "admin" and click "OK." In the left pane, click the “WAN” tab and in the top pane, select the “Home” tab.
Step 5
Check the “Static IP Address” box. In the empty fields below, enter your TCPIP parameters. After entering the data, click "Apply", and then select the option "Others" and "PPTP" in the same menu, and specify the corresponding data in the blank lines below.
Step 6
The protocol settings remain the same, and in addition you will need to specify and confirm the network password. Apply changes.
Step 7
Then open the "Status" menu and enter the numerical MAC address of your router for subsequent registration with the provider, then click "Connect" and wait for the message that the connection has been established.
