One of the important characteristics of a camera is its shutter life, i.e. guaranteed number of its operations. Determining the consumed resource can be important, for example, when buying a used device.

Step 1
There are several ways in which you can find out the number of frames taken with your camera. The first is to contact the service center. However, this will require both time and financial costs. In addition, in most cases, you can determine the number of frames yourself.
Step 2
Take any photo with your camera and copy it to your computer. To determine the total number of captured frames, you will need to view the metadata of the copied photo. They are called EXIF and are encrypted, so they cannot be viewed simply by opening the file properties; this requires a special program.
Step 3
Download the ShowExif app. It is free, so you can freely download it from the Internet, for example, at https://www.videozona.ru/software/ShowExif/showexif.asp. After downloading, run the program. In the left window, select the folder where the file copied from the camera is located. After that, click on it in the window located in the middle. In the right window, you will see EXIF information. Scroll to the bottom of the list and find “Total Number of Shutter Releases”. The value corresponding to it will show the total number of captured frames. More precisely, it shows the shutter release number for this photo, which is essentially the same for this situation.
Step 4
If you are using a Canon camera, download the EOS Info software (https://astrojargon.net/EOSInfo.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1). Its interface and principle of operation are similar to the previous application. Note, however, that for some camera models it may not be possible to read the number of photos taken. In this case, it makes sense to try to determine their number using ShowExif.
