It is very interesting to observe the underwater world, however, many do not know how to dive, even knowing how to swim well. In addition, it is advisable to record observations using photo and video recording tools. A special underwater camera will help you with this.
Instructions
Step 1
Take a regular netbook with you to the river or sea shore. To avoid electric shock, do not attempt to power it from any source other than the built-in battery. Charge it fully before shooting.
Step 2
Get the cheapest webcam you can. The only requirement for it is compatibility with the OS installed on the netbook (Linux or Windows). Despite the fact that the underwater box for the camera must initially be made of high quality and very sealed, it is impossible to completely guarantee its reliability, so the camera must be taken one that you do not mind drowning.
Step 3
Buy a USB extension cable that is about five meters long. It is through it that you connect the camera to the netbook. Place the netbook itself on the shore in such a way that water cannot get into it in any situation. A partner must be on duty next to him.
Step 4
Tightly wrap the junction of the webcam plug with the extension cord with several layers of electrical tape. However, never immerse it in water.
Step 5
Modify the extension cord. Close to the plug connected to the computer, break off the wire that removes the +5 V voltage from it. Include a 0.25 A fuse in the wire break. This will protect the netbook from a short circuit that can occur if water enters the camera. Carry out the revision by first disconnecting the extension cord from the computer. Wrap the location of the fuse with several layers of electrical tape.
Step 6
Use a regular five-liter plastic bottle as a sealed chamber. Resist the temptation to secure the camera to it using screws, as you cannot drill any holes in it. Rubber washers won't help. It is best not to secure the camera at all, leaving it dangling from the wire. Remove the sticker from the bottle - in this place its surface is not corrugated. It is to this side that the lens is directed.
Step 7
Shoot in calm weather, when the occurrence of even weak waves on the reservoir is completely excluded. Remember that waves that can cause water to enter the bottle may also arise from the movement of ships, especially the "Raketa" motor ships. Having entered the water up to your waist, immerse the bottle, holding it with the neck up, in the water about 2/3 of its height. Lower the camera inward on the wire through the neck. Hold it steady with the lens facing the wall where the sticker used to be. Place the connection of the camera cable with the extension cord on the T-shirt in advance with a regular curtain pin.
Step 8
Ask your assistant to start video recording. On it you will see fish swimming in the reservoir.
