Cards based on EEPROM chips are used to store and carry information in many mobile devices - cell phones, digital cameras, MP3 players, etc. To read information from such memory cards, sometimes called flash cards, you need a special device - a card reader.

Find out if your computer has a card reader. This device is rarely included in the basic configuration of personal computers, but it can be found in some models of laptops and laptops. In addition, if your personal computer has an extended multimedia keyboard, then it is possible that a card reader is also built into it.

Purchase this device if your computer does not have one, but you plan to read photos from memory cards quite often. Its price is not high - in the range from three hundred to six hundred rubles. When buying, pay attention to whether the card reader has a slot for memory cards of the format you need. The simplest devices of this type are designed to work with only one format, while the more complex ones can have up to four slots for 23 types of memory cards, and in addition, a slot for reading flash drives and connecting a Bluetooth adapter. Almost all such devices are connected to the USB port of a computer.

Once you have found a memory card slot on your computer or purchased and installed a card reader, it will not be difficult to read the necessary files. It is enough to insert a memory card into the appropriate slot and access to all its contents will be opened through the standard file manager of your operating system. In Windows, Explorer is used as a file manager. After inserting the memory card into the slot, a new Explorer window should open, in which you will find a list of the contents of the card. If your OS settings do not provide for autorun, then open Explorer using the win + e keyboard shortcut and navigate to the folder containing the photos. Select the photos you want, copy (ctrl + c), then go to the destination folder and paste the copied (ctrl + v).

If your computer does not have a card reader and you do not plan to purchase one, then look for such a device in computers at your work or from friends. There are other ways as well. For example, if you have a mobile phone or MP3 player that can use the same type of memory cards, then use these devices as an adapter. In addition, photo studios today are equipped with digital photographic equipment for on-site photography, so you can apply there with a request to read your memory card and write photos to any medium - a flash drive or optical disc.
