Today's review is devoted to two mid-budget smartphones released by the Motorola brand, which was recently bought by the Chinese company Lenovo.
After the acquisition of the company, a lot of new products under the Motorola brand began to enter the smartphone market. Today's heroes of the review are representatives of the popular G series, namely Moto G5s and Moto G5s Plus. New items are partially improved and supplemented versions of the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. Let's see how these models with the "s" prefix differ from each other.
Appearance
It is worth starting with the material of the case. If earlier models were presented in a metal case with plastic inserts, then new variations are already available in an all-metal design, and this is a definite plus. The assembly comes out more durable, without backlash, and looks really premium.
The difference between the displays of the moto g5s and moto g5s plus is only in the thinner frames of the former. Both devices have a water-repellent coating, but do not rush to swim with them - as such, dust and moisture resistance is not provided. The color scheme is not rich: there are only two options for sale - black and gold cases.
The diagonal of the g5s display is 5.2 inches, the resolution is 1920 × 1080. The older brother g5s plus differs from the younger only in the diagonal: 5, 5”. Both have a protective oleophobic Gorilla Glass 3 coating.
Internal filling
Both processors are eight-core, the g5s has a Snapdragon 430, and the g5s + has a more serious option - the Snapdragon 625, the vast majority of games will run perfectly on this processor. RAM in both devices is provided for 3 GB, in the more advanced version of g5s - 4 GB. The device memory is available from 32 to 64 GB in the g5s plus, and 32 GB in the g5s. Quite enough for average queries.
The operating system of both devices is Android 7.1 Nougat. Over time, both devices should receive Android 8.0 Oreo.
The camera for many modern users is a decisive factor in choosing a device. Moto g5s is equipped with a 16 megapixel main camera and a 5 megapixel front camera, the quality of shooting is rather average than high. Moto g5s plus received a dual main camera of 13 megapixels of each module, and the front one - 8 megapixels. Of course, this gives some advantage over its brother, but the quality of shooting is still far from professional.
The battery capacity of the two devices is the same, 3000 mAh. In general, both smartphones can withstand a day and a half, provided that the maximum load is not. There is the possibility of fast charging Quick Charge 3.0.
It has been possible to buy both devices in Russia for a long time, however, there is not always a person willing to overpay about 4000 rubles, when competitors with devices with similar parameters are cheaper. As a result, we can say that these two smartphones are designed more for a certain category of amateurs than for a wide audience.
