An identification number (ID) or device code is a unique number assigned to your computer hardware. ID consists of letters and numbers. With the help of this code, the operating system determines the driver required for the operation of any hardware. Also, the device ID may be required when the user creates a list of devices for the USB port to work. You can find out the device ID using the built-in tools of the operating system.
