Preliminary steps to find your phone
The chance to find a lost phone through a Google account can only be used if a number of conditions are met. These include the setting of special settings in the device, which must be done before it is lost (best of all, immediately after purchase and activation). First of all, the smartphone must be logged into a Google account, which is necessary to activate the device. This action is usually performed on Android smartphones when first turned on, but you can return to it later using the system settings menu.
Registration is carried out in several steps and involves creating an email address on Gmail or logging into an existing one. The current address will be linked to this particular smartphone. Of course, the action requires a permanent Internet connection. In addition, it is necessary to activate the geolocation functions in the device parameters. These are usually called "Location" and "Find My Device". In order to be able to detect the phone in the future, it must remain permanently turned on and, if possible, have active access to the Internet (or enabled geolocation).
Search for a device through a Google account
As soon as you find your smartphone is missing, you need to immediately proceed with the steps to detect it. If you delay, it can be discharged and turned off or fall into the hands of intruders. Select "Account" and wait for the next page to load.
Scroll down the site and select Find My Phone. If several devices were linked to one account at once, do not forget to select the one you need.
