Usually, in order to create a local area network for two computers, users connect the network cards of both PCs. This method is quite convenient, because no additional devices are needed to implement it.
Necessary
network cable
Instructions
Step 1
Such local networks are most often created to configure synchronous access to the Internet from two computers. Also note that this method is also suitable for laptop + PC and laptop + laptop pairs.
Step 2
You need three NICs to access the internet synchronously, so get an extra one. If the role of router and server is performed by a desktop computer, buy a PCI-format card. In the case of a laptop + laptop bundle, you will need a USB-LAN adapter.
Step 3
Connect a second network adapter to your computer or laptop. Connect one end of the cable to it. Its other end must be connected to the network adapter of the second computer, respectively.
Step 4
In this case, you already have a local network, but to gain access to the global network, you need to configure some parameters of the network cards.
Step 5
Turn on your computer connected to the internet if you haven't already. This connection is most likely already configured. Next, open its properties, then the "Access" menu, and then enable the function called "Allow other computers on the network to use this connection on the Internet." Now save your settings.
Step 6
Next, you need to go to the properties of the network card connected to the second computer. First, select the Internet protocol TCP / IP (v4), go to the settings for this protocol. For this network card, set the static network address: 85.85.85.1. This completes the setup of the first PC.
Step 7
Navigate to a similar window on the second PC / laptop. You need to enter the following values following, in fact, from the settings of the previous network card: - 85.85.85.2 - IP; - 255.0.0.0 - subnet mask; - 85.85.85.1 - preferred DNS server; - 85.85.85.1 - default gateway.
Step 8
Next, it remains to save the settings and make sure that both computers have access to the Internet.
