Surely you are faced with a situation where the TV seems to be working, but from time to time the image starts to disappear, an unpleasant ripple appears, or some channels are simply not transmitted. Such deterioration often occurs during bad weather: thunderstorm, rain or wind. If your neighbors have everything in order with the TV, and the provider says that there are no problems on his part, then you need to check the antenna. Surely the problem lies precisely in it.
Necessary
Bolts, screwdriver, insulating tape
Instructions
Step 1
To get started, stock up on the necessary tools: a knife, pliers and a screwdriver. Whatever procedures you have to perform, you simply cannot do without this set. Now think about how long your antenna has been serving you. If this is a room appliance, then the service life is not so important, but in the case of an outdoor antenna, the situation changes. Under the influence of external factors (frost, heat, rain, fog), the television cable gradually loses its properties, and its insulating shell collapses, and therefore various kinds of malfunctions may occur. In addition, bolt and nut fasteners are exposed to harmful effects. They oxidize, so the density of the compounds becomes weaker, as a result of which the contact deteriorates.
Step 2
If your TV antenna is made using a mast, you have a little more difficulty, but nothing is impossible. First, carefully place the mast on the floor or on the ground. Pay attention to the tension on the cable so that it is not too strong. Then inspect the TV antenna: check the places where the cable is attached to the distribution box, as well as the attachments of the antenna horns. If you notice some loose bolts, remove them and replace them with new ones.
Step 3
If a defect is found in the places where the television cable is attached, proceed as follows. If you find that the rest of the cable is in good condition, cut off the unusable piece, carefully strip the resulting end and secure well with new bolts. If, in the course of cable inspection, you find cracks, breaks, sheath exposure, breaks, be sure to change the cable. If there are only a couple of such places, and the rest of the cable is in good condition, you can repair it. For example, wrap the defective parts of the cable with insulating tape.
Step 4
After a thorough inspection and repair, raise the mast again and turn on the TV. If the reception has improved, then your actions have worked. But remember that TV antennas, like any other item, cannot last forever.
