The Russian tablet computer "RoMOS" ("Russian Mobile Operating System") will be assembled from foreign components, the number of components from domestic manufacturers is small. This is explained by the traditional lag of the Russian industry in the field of the element base. But the design of the tablet is completely Russian, the final stage of assembly will be at TsNIIEISU - the head institute of the Ministry of Defense.

The well-known Android OS, which is based on the widespread Linux operating system, was chosen as the operating system for the new gadget. The developers of the tablet used one of the open versions of this OS, modifying it as necessary. From the original version, the open ones differ in full access to the code, which makes it possible to ensure that there are no software bookmarks in the operating system that monitor the user and allow special services to access the data stored on the computer.
It should be noted that security is one of the key requirements for computers for the military. Android OS in this regard inherited all the best features of Linux and allows you to organize very reliable data storage. Tablet users won't have access to the popular Google Play service for security reasons. The developers promise to provide the military with its own similar service.
The new tablet has a 10-inch touchscreen, GLONASS navigator and wireless capabilities. The main functions of the computer will be the storage of information necessary for the military, cryptography, navigation and communication. The civilian version of the tablet will cost about 15 thousand rubles. There is no more detailed information about the tablet yet, its release is expected by the end of 2012.
