Symbian applications are distributed in files with SIS and SISX extensions. Each of them requires a specific installation procedure prior to use.

Instructions

Step 1

First, find out if the SIS or SISX file with the application is suitable for the version of the Symbian operating system that is installed on your phone. If it turns out that it is not compatible with your device, this does not mean that it is impossible to install the corresponding program on it. If it's free, go to the manufacturer's website and find out if there is another version of the application that is compatible with your phone.

Step 2

Check the file for viruses using antivirus or VirusTotal service.

Step 3

Find a folder called Others on your phone's memory card. Place the SIS or SISX file in this folder in any way: via the Internet, Bluetooth, cable. Use a card reader if necessary.

Step 4

Launch a file manager on the device - either built-in or third-party: Y-Browser, FExplorer, X-Plore. Navigate to the appropriate folder on the memory card. If the built-in file manager is used, it can automatically change the folder name from Others to "Other" when displayed. Select the file and run it for execution.

Step 5

During installation, answer yes to all questions. When prompted to choose a location for installation, select as such a memory card - it has much more space than the phone itself. If the installation is successful, the icon of the installed program will appear in the menu folder named “My Apps” or similar. If the file nevertheless turns out to be incompatible with the device, you will see a corresponding error message.

Step 6

If necessary, move the application icon to a different location in the folder, or even to a different menu folder. Do not confuse folders in the menu structure with folders in the file system - they have nothing to do with each other. You will not be able to delete an application through the menu - you will have to launch the Application Manager program built into the phone, located in the Tools menu folder.
