Pocket PCs with Pocket PC and Windows Mobile operating systems have become obsolete after the release of Android and Windows Phone 7. Many of them are not equipped with WiFi modules or GPRS modems. But these machines can still be used for a wide range of tasks due to the large number of free programs available for them.
Instructions
Step 1
Go to the Freeware PPC site, accessible from the first link at the end of this article. Select a category on it from the list on the left side of the page. Then, if available, select a subcategory.
Step 2
To the right of the list of categories, a list of the programs included in it will open. Choose the one you want.
Step 3
After going to the program page, read its system requirements. Make sure that the program is suitable for the OS of your Pocket PC and that the required software components are installed on it. In particular, some programs require the. NET Compact Framework component.
Step 4
Download the CAB installation file to any folder on your desktop or laptop. It can run both Linux and Windows. Check the file using the VirusTotal website (see the second link at the end of the article).
Step 5
If the Pocket PC is on, press the power button on the Pocket PC. In fact, it will not turn off, but go into sleep mode. Remove the memory card from it. Please note that some older PDAs are not compatible with SD cards - they require MMC media. Today it is quite difficult to buy them, since they are not used in modern tablets and smartphones.
Step 6
Move the card to the card reader. Copy the CAB file to any folder on the card. Then, safely remove it (how to do this depends on the OS you are using).
Step 7
Move the memory card back to the PDA. Wake him up by pressing the power button. Find the CAB file with the built-in file manager on the machine. Run it, and the installation process of the program will begin. Note that some older PDAs store installed programs in RAM instead of Flash memory. After a deep discharge of the battery and its subsequent charging, all applications in them have to be reinstalled. And to avoid losing data, save it to a memory card.
