Assembling equipment on your own is not easy, and it also takes a lot of time and effort. Especially carefully and scrupulously it is necessary to assemble machines and units, the operation of which a priori is associated with a risk to life, an example of such a machine is a helicopter. The simplest for self-manufacture is the Adams-Wilson helicopter. Without a doubt, this is a simple single-seat minicopter and one of the best.
Instructions
Step 1
The structure of the helicopter consists of bolted aluminum tubes. It has a two-bladed main rotor, allowing full control of the cyclic and total pitch. The main rotor diameter is 6 meters. The tail rotor is built according to the Bell system. The tail rotor diameter is 1 meter. Manually using a lever, the transition to autorotation is carried out. This lever is located on the step-throttle handle and the transition is accomplished by disengaging the engine clutch.
Step 2
The power plant of the helicopter consists of the motor of the Triumph motorcycle. Its power is 52 hp and a volume of 650 cc. However, any other engine can be used. The main thing is that its power is equal to or exceeds 45 hp. Magneto two-cylinder in-line. The start is carried out by a kickstarter. Fuel consumption approx. 16 liters per hour at sea level. The maximum flight speed is 70 km per hour, the cruising speed is 50 km per hour. The helicopter has a height of 1.8 m and a length of 4.5 meters. The total weight of the machine is up to 250 kg.
Step 3
Available materials are used in the manufacture of the helicopter. For example, the main gearbox is made from the gearbox of the Ural motorcycle, which is equipped with a conventional chain from a standard, not converted motorcycle engine. The rotor sleeve can be made by yourself in a home workshop. The tail rotor drive is made on a conventional V-belt drive, which has successfully proven itself in the manufacture of many commercial minicheters.
Step 4
There is no need to equip a special runway for takeoff and landing. An open area of about 50 meters in diameter will suffice.
When making a helicopter on your own, you must strictly follow the drawings and calculations, as well as be able to understand mechanics and electrics, since the installation of the driving elements and the wiring system will require the utmost precision from you.
