Laser discs with all their advantages (ease of recording, volume of stored information) have a huge disadvantage, reducing all the advantages to a fat minus. They scratch very easily, and information on such a disk can be lost forever.

Instructions
Step 1
Take a good look at all sides of the scratched disc to make sure the scratches are only one layer at a time and the disc is not cracked. Although computers and players read information from the side of the laser coating, cracks on the outer side of the disc mean its irrevocable death. Scratches from the inside can be tried and removed.
Step 2
CD consists of several layers, the thickest of them are polycarbonate and aluminum. In this case, we are interested in the polycarbonate layer. The scratches that appear on it are easily removed with a couple of simple actions.
Step 3
Apply some toothpaste to the scratch and spread it over the damaged area with a tissue paper in a circular motion. Do not try to put too much pressure on the disc, the movements should be light and smooth.
Step 4
Finally, buff the disc with a microfiber cloth from the center of the disc to the edge. The duration of polishing will directly depend on the depth of the scratch and may well last up to 2-3 minutes.
Step 5
Wash the disc with warm water, dry it well and you can try to read information from it.
Step 6
Toothpaste is a very fine-grained substance, when polished it smoothes the edges of scratches on polycarbonate, reducing = or even completely eliminating it from the coating.
