Modern system units contain outputs for connecting USB, audio devices and a microphone on the front panel. It is usually located either near the power / reset buttons or on the side of the unit.
Instructions
Step 1
Connect the connectors to the front panel. To do this, you need to disassemble the system unit and find the wires coming from the motherboard to connect the front panel devices. First, identify the USB connection wire. Be guided for this by the colors of the wires and the inscriptions on the motherboard itself.
Step 2
Determine which wire to connect to the front panel. Find the location of the connector. To connect the front panel for audio output, find the corresponding connectors. Usually, in the body, all these elements are labeled in such a way as in the picture. Be careful not to confuse the connectors with each other, otherwise the correct operation of the devices will be impossible. In the worst case, this can lead to breakdowns, for example, of connectors due to mismatched jacks.
Step 3
Connect a USB device and an audio device to the front panel to check if the front panel is connected properly. If something doesn't work, then you need to check the settings in your computer. If you have a Windows 7 system, do the following. In the lower right corner of the screen, click on the speaker icon.
Step 4
Go to the "Audio Inputs / Outputs" tab. Click the "Connector settings" button, in the window that opens, check the "Disable front panel slot detection" box. After checking the box and confirming the selection by pressing “OK”, the sound on the front panel will appear automatically.
Step 5
Turn on the front panel in Windows XP. To do this, go to the "Audio inputs / outputs" tab. Next to the inscription "Analog", click on the wrench icon, in the window that opens, check the box similar to the previous item and click "OK".
