So you've decided to do home recording and do it well. There are several factors that affect the quality of a sound recording. The main such factors are the level of sound insulation in the room, as well as the quality of the recording equipment. Let's take a closer look at these factors so that you can get the most out of your recorded audio. Just follow our guidelines.
Instructions
Step 1
You should start with the selection of equipment. First thing you need to do is choose a microphone. To record only one voice, one microphone is enough, and if you are going to simultaneously record playing an acoustic guitar, then you will also need a preamplifier (preamp) with a piezo transducer. Recording sounds made by an electric guitar is done differently. You need an amplifier, without which you can't really record and listen to your own music. Monitor acoustics in the form of headphones, near, far and middle field monitors and other useful things will also not be superfluous.
Step 2
Take care of the quality of the sound card installed on your PC. Its range should not be less than 192 kHz. The preamp shouldn't make a lot of noise. The best option would be a tube amplifier.
Step 3
Do not forget about connecting wires and cables, of which you will need a lot. Choose flexible wires that have an anti-corrosion coating. This is important, because a poor-quality connection of elements of your home recording studio will certainly affect the sound quality (you yourself know in which direction).
Step 4
When choosing an interface for connecting audio equipment with a computer, stop at FireWare or USB. The first option is preferable.
Step 5
There are no special requirements for the PC itself. However, the more powerful it is, the more you can increase the quantization frequency of sound waves. Based on this, it is better to opt for a 2 or 4-core processor with at least 4 GB of RAM.
Step 6
It is also worth looking for programs on the Internet for processing and inputting sounds on a PC. There are a lot of them, and you can choose the right ones yourself.
Step 7
The room in which the recording studio will be located must meet all soundproofing conditions. Walls with a ceiling must be covered with a layer of insulating material. You can use traditional soundproofing materials or opt for a phonostop, phonostep, or phonostrip. Such materials are much more expensive than traditional materials, but also more economical.
