A breakdown of a TV is an extremely unpleasant event. Now you need to carry it to a service center, sit for a while without a TV, pay money if the warranty has already expired … Not too bright prospects. However, while it seems very difficult, you can fix an LCD TV at home as well.
Necessary
- - screwdriver
- - spare parts
- - soldering iron
- - accuracy
Instructions
Step 1
On the back panel, carefully unscrew all the screws. Put them in one place, preferably in some box or jar, so as not to lose, because you probably know how easily bolts are lost when repairing something. Then detach the cover. Keep in mind that there are double mounts on TVs - in addition to bolts, the case can also be connected with latches. Gently pry the latches with a flat screwdriver and open the case. Now look at what's inside your TV.
Step 2
Determine where the power supply is and where the motherboard is. The power supply contains connectors for connecting a cable, while the motherboard looks like a regular microcircuit.
Step 3
Carefully examine all the elements of the power supply unit - if there is any damage on it. Capacitors are most often damaged. They are usually located in the upper left corner of the power supply. If you notice that liquid is oozing from the capacitors or their integrity is broken, then consider that you have found the cause of the breakdown.
Step 4
Now determine the value of the broken capacitors. It is best to replace them with capacitors with a higher rating, since the capacitors that were originally installed are not designed for high voltage and its fluctuations, which usually occur. So let there be an extra margin of safety.
Step 5
Change the capacitors in series so as not to get confused. If you remove everything at once, you may later not remember which capacitor to connect to where. The capacitors should be replaced with a soldering iron - you must unsolder one capacitor and solder the other.
Step 6
When replacing capacitors, pay close attention to their polarity. If the polarity is reversed, the capacitors will simply explode, and you do not need this at all.
Step 7
After replacing the defective parts, put the board back and reassemble the TV case - snap the halves of the case and screw all the bolts into place.
Step 8
After completing the work, carefully turn on the TV (just in case, it's better not to stand directly in front of the screen). If it works, then everything is fine, but let it run continuously for a couple of hours, and then check if the new capacitors are too hot. If not, then everything is fine.
