Samsung Kies is used to synchronize Android smartphones from Samsung Galaxy. It allows you to manage contacts stored on the device, copy content (pictures, music and videos) and make backups in case data recovery is needed.
Instructions
Step 1
Download the correct version of Kies from the Samsung official website. There are two versions of this program on the phone manufacturer's resource - Kies and Kies 3. The use of this or that version is determined by the operating system of your smartphone. Download Kies 3 if you are using a Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note III and newer phone that runs Android 4.3 and above. For the rest of the devices, the standard Samsung Kies will do.
Step 2
Install the application on your computer using the downloaded installation file, following the instructions on the screen. After completing the procedure, launch the program and connect your device via the USB cable that comes with the device.
Step 3
After connecting the device, the program will automatically install all the necessary drivers and offer the necessary software updates. Click "Update" if a dialog box appears on the screen that offers to update the phone system to a new version.
Step 4
After completing the operation, you will have access to the functions of managing the data stored on the device. For example, you can synchronize data by clicking on the "Contacts" item in the left panel of the program. After that, click on the "Synchronization" menu and select Outlook from the list that appears. The phone book of the smartphone will be synchronized with the "Contacts" section of Outlook and can also be restored using this menu using the "Restore" option.
Step 5
To sync your contacts, go to the "Sync" - "Sync Music" tab. Select the playlist you want to add and then click on the corresponding button to start the operation. Once completed, you can check the files copied to your computer and phone.
Step 6
To back up your data, go to the Backup tab of your device and select the items you want to keep. This option will help you recover the necessary data if you lose it while using the device. After selecting the desired items, click "Backup" and wait for the operation to complete.
