All Nokia mobile phones based on S40 and S60 platforms have a Java virtual machine built into the firmware. All that is needed to install a J2ME application on such a phone is to place it in the built-in memory of the device or on a memory card.

Instructions

Step 1

Remember that Nokia phones, unlike many other manufacturers, do not require a JAD file. They can easily get by with a single JAR file. However, the presence of a JAD file will not interfere with the program's work in any way. And if you download a JAD file with your phone's browser, the device will automatically download the corresponding JAR file.

Step 2

On an S40 phone, download the JAR file with the built-in browser. Do not use Opera Mini, UCWEB or similar programs for this. It will be automatically installed, after which you will find the program in the "Games" or "Applications" section.

Step 3

If your phone has a removable memory card, turn off the device, remove the card, then insert it into the card reader and find the folder with JAR files on it. Place new such files there, correctly disconnect the card reader from the computer, then move the card to the phone and turn it on. New applications will appear in the corresponding section of its menu.

Step 4

If you use a device on the S60 platform, after downloading the JAR file by the built-in browser of the phone, its installation will start automatically. The file itself will either not be saved anywhere, or, on new models, it will remain in the folder of the memory card called download. The UCWEB browser will save the file to the UCDownloaded folder, while the Opera Mini or Opera Mobile browser will allow you to select almost any folder on your memory card to save. It is recommended to select the Others folder for this, and transfer the files downloaded to other folders there. You can put a JAR file in the same folder using a card reader, and you do not need to turn off the phone to remove the card. It is enough to briefly press the off key, and then select the "Eject card" item in the menu that appears.

Step 5

If the file was downloaded by a third-party browser, go to the folder where it is located using the built-in browser of the phone, and then launch it. If you are using the X-Plore File Manager, select File> Open in System from the menu.

Step 6

Regardless of how you started the installation, remember that the original JAR file will remain unchanged. This will allow you to reinstall the program with the default settings, if necessary. During the installation, you will be asked several questions, which must be answered positively. When prompted for a location to install, select a memory card. Remember that JAR files, unlike SIS and SISX files, do not require a digital signature in any Nokia phone model.
