To check the degree of discharge of the battery, it is necessary to measure the density of the electrolyte using a hydrometer. The higher its density, the higher the ball of the hydrometer will rise, on the scale of which the values are plotted in units of density (g / cm3). Measurement of the density of the electrolyte should be done with extreme caution, not allowing the electrolyte from the pipette to get onto the surface of the battery or body. Electrolyte is sulfuric acid, which can cause corrosion and electrical leakage. Acid temperature during density measurement is 200-300C. Measurements are carried out in each bank, and it should be the same everywhere. The norm for a charged battery is 1.28 g / cm3. When the battery is discharged by 50%, the density of the electrolyte will be 1, 20 g / cm3, and for a discharged one quarter - 1, 24 g / cm3. In the last two cases, the battery needs to be recharged in winter.

Step 6

Charge the battery in a well-ventilated area with the hood open. During charging, the charging current should be approximately 10% of the battery capacity, and the charging time should be approximately 10 hours. The electrolyte temperature during charging should not be higher than + 550C. If not, interrupt charging or reduce the current.
