In all modern hardware stores, a large number of TVs of various models are presented, which can be divided into several categories. The largest of them are LCD and plasma panels. These two types have a lot of differences that must be considered when choosing.
Instructions
Step 1
When choosing a TV, you should determine for yourself the purpose of its purchase. There is a fundamental difference between home theater televisions, cable televisions, or HDTV televisions.
Step 2
Processors designed for large panels are not able to qualitatively calculate a regular broadcast signal for a large diagonal (more than 40 inches). The image, which is created using plasma, is saturated with colors and has a better quality than LCD.
Step 3
Large pixels that create images in plasma can distort it, especially when viewed at close range. This is not the case with LCD panels. Moreover, in plasma TVs there is a phenomenon of “burnout” of pixels, which occurs when frames are not changed quickly enough. This is often seen in television viewing, with companies placing their stationary logos in the corner of the screen. What's more, plasma TVs use 3 times more power than LCD TVs.
Step 4
In turn, LCD panels have an unusual for the eyes and a lower quality picture at a fairly high price. If we compare plasma and LCD TVs of the same diagonal, the former will have a lower cost.
Step 5
If the purpose of using the TV is to watch high quality TV broadcasts in HDTV format and play modern computer games using modern set-top boxes, you can safely choose an LCD panel. Plasma is able to provide the best color reproduction when watching movies, so this kind of TV is suitable for a home theater.
