More and more car enthusiasts are attracted by the so-called "hybrid" gadgets, when several devices are combined in one case. One of them is a navigator with a registrar.

What is a navigator with registrar?

A navigator with a recorder is primarily a navigator, and the functions of a DVR have been added here as a bonus. This device looks like a regular tablet. Since in such devices the navigator is considered the main one, its quality, as a rule, is at a high level, but the DVR can produce such a bad picture that there is no need to use it right away. However, this already depends on the specific device, as well as on its cost.

When choosing a navigator with a registrar, you need to pay attention to the supported resolution of the device (the higher, the better the image quality), the format of the recorded video (it can be VGA or HD). You also need to take into account the power of the processor: it must cope with the simultaneous operation of the navigator and the DVR. Do not take processors with a clock speed below 500 MHz, as in this case the picture may be blurry.

Pros and cons of a "hybrid" device

The first advantage of this device is that it saves money. On average, such a device costs about $ 50. This is much less than if you buy a navigator and a DVR separately. Another advantage is the saving of space on the windshield. The two separate devices will take up more space and also limit the driver's visibility.

Also, a navigator with a recorder has an advantage in power supply. Since both the GPS navigator and the DVR are connected from the cigarette lighter, and there is only one in the car, if there are two separate devices, this can become a problem. Of course, you can solve this problem by buying a double cigarette lighter or using these gadgets in turn, but this is not always convenient.

As for the negative aspects, the most important of them is the limited capabilities of the DVR. For example, in such hybrid devices, recorders with the possibility of night shooting or sound recording are very rare. Also, the viewing angle of the recorder is "cut off" and is about 75 degrees (usually the radius is at least 120 degrees). There are also problems with the placement of this device. It should be placed so that the registrar has the best view of the road, and the navigator is easy to reach. This is not so easy to do and you will have to look for a compromise solution. Although technologies are developing at a very fast pace, and after a while, specialists will figure out how to solve most of these problems.
