Various routers and routers are used to create mixed-type local networks. Most often, these devices act as an intermediary between the provider's server and the computers that are part of the network.
It is necessary
- - network cable;
- - computer or laptop.
Instructions
Step 1
To configure the router, be sure to take into account the requirements put forward by your provider. I would like to immediately notice that not all routers can be successfully configured to work with any provider. Get the right equipment. Pay attention to the internet connection connector (DSL or WAN).
Step 2
Connect the purchased router to AC power. If your device supports wireless networks, then check for a Wi-Fi hotspot. Sometimes these routers can be configured without connecting to them via a cable. Otherwise, connect your computer or laptop to the LAN connector of the router.
Step 3
Connect the ISP cable to the DSL or WAN connector. Launch a web browser on the equipment connected to the router. Read the instructions for the device and find its IP address in it. Enter its value into your browser url. Press the Enter key.
Step 4
Open the WAN menu. Based on the recommendations of your ISP's specialists, configure the Internet connection of this router. Be sure to save your settings.
Step 5
If you need to create a Wi-Fi hotspot, open the Wireless Settings menu. Set the operating parameters of your wireless access point. Be sure to set a password that is strong enough to prevent your network from being compromised.
Step 6
In rare cases, you need to configure the router parameters in more detail. For example, if your ISP requires a static IP address for this device, then set it. This can be done in the WAN menu. Select the Static IP parameter from the existing options. On the next line, set the value for the static IP address.
Step 7
Please note that after changing the IP address of your router, you may have to enter the value of the new IP to gain access to the hardware settings. Sometimes additional configuration of the local network on computers may be required.
