Despite the growing popularity of modern ways of transmitting a television signal, terrestrial television has not gone out of use everywhere. For him, of course, you need an antenna. You can make it yourself, and from a variety of materials. Radio amateurs most often use wire or ski poles for this purpose.

It is necessary

  • - ski poles;
  • - plastic tube;
  • - screws M3;
  • - nuts;
  • - washers;
  • - plastic clamps;
  • - dowels;
  • - drill with drills;
  • - screwdriver;
  • - pliers;
  • - wrench;
  • - coaxial cable;
  • - TV connector;
  • - roulette;
  • - hacksaw for metal;
  • - accessories for soldering.

Instructions

Step 1

Take metal ski poles - aluminum or titanium. Make vibrators out of them for the future antenna. There should be two vibrators, they have the same length. Decide which channel you want to watch. The length of the vibrators depends on this. For 1-3 channels it is 1000-1100 mm, for 4-6 - 750 mm, for 7-9 - 360 mm, for 10-12 - 310 mm. If the ski poles are not long enough, splice the tubes from several pieces by connecting them with metal tubes of a larger diameter. For example, tubes of old clamshells will do. You can fasten the vibrators in another way - by putting them on metal rods. But it is imperative to ensure reliable contact.

Step 2

Connect the vibrators to each other with an insulating tube. As such a tube, you can use, for example, a piece from a gymnastic hoop. A white plumbing pipe is also suitable (black is not suitable, since it contains graphite, and therefore is a poor insulator). You can also take a wooden cork made from well-dried or paraffin-boiled wood. The distance between the ends of the metal tubes should be 6-8 cm.

Step 3

Having spaced 2 cm from the ends of the tubes connected with the stopper, drill through holes with a diameter of 3 mm in each. Such an antenna can already be connected to the TV if it has an input for a two-wire line. In this case, you can use a lighting electric wire as a cable, which is attached to the antenna with two through screws, passed through the drilled holes.

Step 4

But usually a coaxial connector is used on modern TVs. To connect a homemade antenna, you need a matching device. Take a piece of television cable equal in length to one vibrator. Attach its center core on both sides to the vibrator with screws. You got the so-called U-knee.

Step 5

Cut one shoulder of the U-elbow in half lengthwise and strip the sheath and strands of the cable. Similarly, prepare the other end of the cable that goes to the TV connector. Solder all three braids of the resulting lengths of cable together. Insulate the seam. Solder all three center conductors together. The matching device is ready, the antenna can be connected.

Step 6

Such an antenna should be oriented perpendicular to the direction of the telecentre. It can be hung from the ceiling or wall using plastic clamps. If the polarization of the wave is vertical, such an antenna must also be placed vertically. This is more convenient, since such an antenna looks bulky when installed horizontally.
