You can connect a TV to a computer via HDMI using an appropriate cable by connecting one device to another through a special connector. In addition, you need to apply some settings.
Instructions
Step 1
Purchase an HDMI to HDMI cable that is the right length to connect your TV to your computer. If your TV does not have this connector, you can buy a DVI-Out adapter and pre-connect it to the HDMI-In port. The computer or laptop must also have an HDMI port, otherwise the connection will fail.
Step 2
Connect an HDMI to HDMI cable to an appropriate port on your computer and connect the other end to the corresponding port on your TV. Turn on your TV and computer. On your TV remote, find the TV Input button and press it. In the menu that appears, specify the HDMI output as the signal source (if the connection is correct, this item will most likely be highlighted). A few seconds after that, you will see an image of your operating system desktop on the screen, and this indicates that you were able to connect the TV to your computer via HDMI.
Step 3
If the image from the computer still does not appear on the TV screen, right-click anywhere on the system desktop and select "Screen Resolution" or "Appearance and Personalization" (depending on the version of Windows). Click the "Find" button next to the picture and number of your monitor. After that, click on the "Screen" menu and select the connected TV in the list that appears, then click "Duplicate to this screen". Click "Apply" and "OK". Your computer will now be connected to your TV via HDMI.
Step 4
Remember that in order to transfer not only the image, but also the sound from the computer to the TV, you need to perform a few additional steps. First, purchase an AUX cable and connect it at one end to the Audio-Out port on your computer and to the other end to the Audio-In connector on your TV (the name and location of the connectors vary by model).
Step 5
Go to the "Start" menu of the operating system and open the "Control Panel", then click on the "Sound" icon. If the audio cable was connected correctly, you will see an output to the TV among the available audio devices. Click on it with the right mouse button and select "Use as default". Now you can not only enjoy watching the image from the monitor on the TV screen, but also listen to the sounds reproduced by the operating system on it.
