iQOS is by far the most famous tobacco heating device that does not generate smoke. The system entered the market in 2014 with the help of Philip Morris International. It so happens that consumers are faced with a problem in which the device does not charge, and the indicator itself flashes red. What could be the reason?
IQOS structure
IQOS includes a charger, holder, heated tobacco sticks or sticks (compressed tobacco product).
At the beginning, the prepared tobacco is pressed into a cork and crimped using a special technology - "crimping". Then the system heats the tobacco stick to 350 degrees Celsius in 5-10 seconds. You need to wait for the green light to stop burning. But the tobacco itself burns at temperatures from 600 C to 900 C, so tobacco does not start burning in IQOS. IQOS charging
Everything here is very simple and standard. The device is placed in the charger itself, closed. Next, you need to hold down the button on the battery pack itself until the device flashes. After that, you need to leave it until the end of the process. When the blinking stops, the device is ready for new use.
How long does the charge last? Usually 20 smoke breaks or a day for the average smoker. Each time after smoking, the stick must be placed in the charger for 10 minutes. Also, do not forget that the device needs cleaning: tobacco accumulates inside, the taste of smoking deteriorates significantly and the smell will be similar to burnt grass. You can clean with a thin stick that pushes the tobacco leaves down.
What to do if Aykos starts flashing and does not charge?
Quite a common problem. What could be the reason?
- The wrong buttons may be pressed;
- Firmware failure;
- Frequent overheating of elements;
- The owner has not cleaned the device from tobacco for a long time;
- Inside, something could simply break, wires could come off or components burn out.
How to solve the problem?
- Reboot the device, leave it for a while and try again;
- Clean the inside by hand, blow out. Keep the cigarette holder clean at all times;
- Take it to the service center if the previous points did not help.
- Radical methods: disassemble iQOS by hand.
If the consumer has the necessary knowledge or confidence that he can fix it himself, the device can be disassembled down to a microcircuit. To do this, press a heavy object on the indicator button several times. Then the LED should go out and not blink. Then lift the block where the sticks are inserted with a sharp object, hold it for a couple of minutes and lower it smoothly. After that, a red light may light up without blinking.
Still, it is worth contacting the professionals or calling the customer service. The official service center of the device is obliged to refund the cost of the product or replace it with a working one.

- Avoiding falls, mechanical damage. Some people carry the device in a special case;
- Clean the device in a timely manner so that tobacco does not get on the internal board;
- Do not expose the device to frost. Like mobile phones, such devices are prone to deterioration after frequent hypothermia;
- Before smoking, after the light is blinking, you should wait a minute and start smoking. In this case, there will be more smoke, and the life of the system will increase;
- Protect from moisture. Since moisture protection was not provided during the manufacture of the device, rain can harm it;
- Using original chargers and sticks. If the sticks are not original, then tobacco can gradually ruin the device, heating it unevenly.

Experiments were also carried out on rats: in animals that were exposed to smoke from cigarettes, respiratory tract diseases were pursued more often than from the influence of aerosol.
In Japan and the United States, clinical studies have been conducted in humans that have switched from conventional cigarettes to IQOS. Smokers who used only cigarettes were taken into account. The participants were observed in a hospital for 5 days, after that, for 85 days, they were observed on an outpatient basis. Unlimited use of the device and smoking of cigarettes was allowed. A total of 160 people took part in the experiment. The data showed that when switching to IQOS, the impact of harmful substances decreases.
