Step 1
To find out the diagonal of your TV, you can use several methods. The first and most elementary one is to look at the instructions for the device or even on its box. The TV brand, model and diagonal are shown directly on the cover of the user manual.
Step 2
It happens that neither the box nor the instructions can be found. In this case, determine exactly which TV is presented for measurement: CRT (CRT TV), LCD (liquid crystal) or plasma.
Step 3
If you have a CRT TV, then you need to measure the diagonal by the glass of the bulb. Just stretch the centimeter from one corner of the screen obliquely to the other. Record your result in centimeters.
Step 4
LCD / Plasma TV must be switched on before measurement. Move a meter or a half away from it, fix the extreme glowing pixels in the corners with your gaze. The fact is that in LCD and plasma TVs, the image is enclosed in a small black frame around the perimeter of the TV. Therefore, measurements should be taken at the pixels that are as far apart as possible.
Step 5
Without turning off the TV, come close to it. Apply a centimeter from one extreme luminous pixel obliquely, across the screen, to the other. Write down the result.
Step 6
Make calculations. The diagonal of a TV or monitor is always indicated in inches. To find out the correct size, divide the data obtained in centimeters by 2, 54 cm. The result will be the diagonal of your TV.
