Cellular operators have long been providing a free SMS service to their subscribers using the Internet. However, this possibility is not widely publicized and therefore may raise questions from some users.
Instructions
Step 1
The most reliable way to send free SMS is to use the official website of the mobile operator. It is possible to use third-party programs or sites, but this has its own risks.
Step 2
Once you go to the SMS sending page, you will see several fields. If the proposed list does not contain the code (the first three digits after "8") of the subscriber you are going to write to, most likely you have made a mistake with the operator. Refine this point again. If the operator is exactly correct, then try refreshing the page. The problem can persist only if it is an error on the operator's website: alas, there is no way for you to solve it.
Step 3
Please note that the number of characters in one SMS is limited. To put more characters, write in transliteration (Russian words in English letters), on some sites such a translation will be done for you automatically. However, sometimes it's much easier to just send several SMS in a row, it's free.
Step 4
User identification is needed so that it is impossible to write a program that would send advertisements through this service. Usually, you are asked to enter a word or several characters shown in the picture. The word may be illegible, but this problem is solved by the "refresh image" button. If after several inputs you get an error message, then try changing the browser or refreshing the page. However, there are also more original identification systems, for example, on the MTS website you will be asked to choose a picture by description.
Step 5
Try not to use third-party programs and applications to send SMS. Their indisputable plus is that you do not need to surf different sites: after entering the code, the program will itself determine the operator, and sometimes even automatically decompose a large number of characters into 2-3 messages. However, the problem is that SMS sent in this way can pass not only through the provider, but also through the authors of the program. Therefore, not only your confidential information may become known to third parties, but your phone numbers themselves may be blacklisted. Such lists are used by automatic advertising mailings or scammers.
Step 6
Speaking of safety, one cannot fail to mention several annoying incidents that occurred in the summer of 2011. The fact is that due to the mistakes of the site administrators, typing a certain query in the search engines, you could get quite real SMS sent from the official sites of the operators. However, this is rather a separate case, but the real problem is significant delays in sending free messages, which, although not always, do occur. As the saying goes, "free cheese is only in a mousetrap," and often, instead of writing from the Internet to your phone, it is much safer to do it from your mobile phone.
