There is no standard for the location and purpose of controls for musical synthesizers. Even the power switch cannot always be found immediately, since it can be combined with one or another regulator or switch.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure there is power to the synthesizer. If it has a built-in power supply, make sure it is rated for the voltage of your mains and plug in the power cord. If there is an external power supply unit, connect it to the input socket, and after a similar check, plug the unit into a power outlet. In a battery-operated instrument, if you plan to use it occasionally outdoors, insert the batteries with the correct polarity. When the power supply is plugged in, they will be automatically disconnected (even if the power supply itself is not plugged in). Use only blocks suitable for both the output voltage (it should not exceed the rated voltage even without load) and polarity.
Step 2
Try looking for a rectangular or round button on the front panel of the synthesizer that has Power, Function, or Operate next to it. Instead of this inscription, a conventional designation can be used: a circle or a rhombus with a vertical line inside (sometimes protruding upward). Press this button, and the LED next to it will light up, and if there is a display, its backlight will turn on. You can play. And to turn off the power of the device, press the same button again.
Step 3
Children's synthesizers assembled on a single microcircuit are usually equipped with sliding power switches. To turn the instrument on, slide the switch to the On position, to turn it off, back to the Off position. Some professional analog synthesizers are equipped with similar switches, but larger.
Step 4
If there is no separate power button, locate the mode switch on the front panel. It can have several positions, one of which is designated as Off. Move it to any other position and the device will turn on. This switch allows you to select several modes, for example, in one of them all the keys act like a piano, in the other, you can play chords with the bass keys, and in the third pressing them will simulate playing drums. To turn off the synthesizer, return the switch to the Off position.
Step 5
If the power switch is aligned with the Master Volume control, turn it clockwise until it clicks, then set the desired signal level. To turn off, turn the knob counterclockwise until it clicks.
Step 6
When you are finished playing the instrument, unplug it from the power outlet. If you plan not to use the device for more than two weeks, remove the batteries from it (if any).
