The Android smartphone Samsung Galaxy SIII was announced back in 2011, but went on sale only in May 2012. It differs from its predecessor - Galaxy SII - with improved characteristics, as well as a number of new functions.
The main improvement in the Galaxy SIII over the SII is in the operating system itself. Android 4.0.3 has been replaced by 4.0.4 (also codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich). The TouchWiz touch interface in the device has been updated from version 4.0 to Nature UX. As the system requirements for the software increased, the clock frequency of the processor had to be increased from 1.2 to 1.4 GHz. But the amount of RAM remains the same - 1 gigabyte. It is increased to 2 GB only in the US and Canada variants.
Despite the possibility of using memory cards (MicroSD, up to 64 GB), both devices have built-in Flash storage. But if in the SII its volume is limited to 16 gigabytes, then the SIII is available in three versions - with 16, 32 or 64 gigabytes of built-in Flash memory.
The display of the new phone has been significantly improved. It still uses AMOLED technology, but its diagonal has been increased from 4, 3 (or 4.5 in some SII variants) to 4.8 inches. But the screen isn't just made bigger. Its resolution has increased significantly - from 480x800 to 1280x720.
Those who use a smartphone, including as a navigator, will be pleased with a navigation receiver capable of receiving signals from both GLONASS and GPS satellites. It provides not only more accurate positioning, but also faster response to movement. The readiness time after starting the navigation program is also reduced. In addition, a barometric sensor has been added to the device, making the device a kind of miniature weather station in your pocket.
But photography lovers will have to disappoint a little. The camera resolution of the Samsung Galaxy SIII is the same as in the SII. It is still 8 megamixels. And the front camera, which is designed for video communication, has even slightly reduced resolution - from 2 to 1.9 megapixels. But the quality of photos taken with a smartphone is still high - they look better than those taken with many digital cameras.
