In DipTrace you can create your own component libraries. Moreover, a separate library of enclosures and a separate library of components. The former have the extension *.lib, and the latter - *.eli. But what if, for example, the item you need is in the item library, and you would like to add its pattern to your pattern library? You cannot export it directly. We'll have to "tinker" a little.

Necessary

  • - Computer with DipTrace program;
  • - library of elements *.eli.

Instructions

Step 1

Launch the Component Editor. First of all, load the required library of DipTrace *.eli elements, which contains the radio element we need. Click in the component panel: Components -> Library Setup …

In the window that opens, click the Add Library button and select the library file.

Step 2

We are looking for the required element in the library and check that this is exactly what we need. Suppose we need to export the MDM5 radioelement body from the *.eli component library to the *.lib body library.

Step 3

Now a similar operation must be performed in the PCB Layout program from DipTrace. We launch it, and in the component panel, click Components -> Library Setup -> Add Library, select the desired *.eli library. The library has now appeared in the component panel. We are looking for the necessary radio element in it, click on it with the mouse and place it on the printed circuit board (on the black field for tracing the board).

Step 4

Now, to export the body of this component, right-click on it installed on the board and in the menu that appears, select the item Save to Library -> Save to File …

Select the User Patterns group, enter the desired Name and Hint for the element. We press "OK".

Now you need to set a name for the library file, in this case let it be "MDM5.lib".

Step 5

Now, in order to insert our pattern into another pattern library, launch the Pattern Editor program from DipTrace. Let's open the library with the newly created element and the library into which we will insert the new element. The library is opened in the standard way: Patterns -> Library Setup… -> User Patterns -> Add Library -> select the MDM5.lib file and do the same with the target library a second time.

Step 6

We select the MDM5 library, it contains our only element - MDM5. Click on it with the right mouse button. In the menu that opens, select the item "Move Patterns to Another Library …". Now the name of the library, in which we want to place the new pattern, and set the group (by default, the group "user patterns" is offered - User Patterns). The program will inform you about the successful transfer of the new item to the library.
